PRESS: Latvia seeks to make Gazprom sell 34% in Conexus Baltic Grid
MOSCOW, Feb 16 (PRIME) -- Latvia wants to force Russian gas giant Gazprom to sell a 34.1% stake in pipeline company Conexus Baltic Grid, business daily Kommersant reported on Friday, citing a source with knowledge of the matter.
According to the source, Gazprom lost the right to vote and manage its stake under the Latvian law, stipulating that Gazprom had to divest from Conexus Baltic Grid until January 1 in order for Latvia to meet the third energy package terms.
Gazprom was earlier offered 130 million euros for the asset by businessman Indrek Rahumaa and 75 million euros by Vitol. An undisclosed buyer offered about 200 million euros for Conexus Baltic Grid and another unit Latvijas Gaze but Gazprom did not react to the bid.
